Thankful 2011

Lauren and I spent Thanksgiving this year in Texarkana and Avery, where we ate too much and had way too much fun. We got to hunt, build bonfires, and go mudding on four-wheelers. I also tried to find some time to snap a few pictures, and here are some of my favorites. The macro photos were done using extension tubes with an old 50mm Olympus manual focus lens (this set-up was graciously loaned to me by a fellow photographer and classmate).

Despite the disappointing game on Thursday (and really the whole season), I still have to support my Ags.

I was either not man enough or not dumb enough to use the macro lens for this one.

Pretty wife :)

Probably my favorite long exposure of the night

I am not sure what he was pointing here, but by the look on his face I don't think he was too sure either.

Meatball Sandwiches... Nom Nom Nom!

Easy Meatball Sandwich Recipe
makes around 27 meatballs, which is enough for 9 sandwiches

For the meatballs:                         For the sauce:                                       For the sandwich:
- 3lb ground turkey                       - at least 26oz pasta sauce                - Hoagie buns
- 1 small onion                                - 3tsps of ground cumin                     - Mozzarella cheese
- 2 bell peppers                              - 1tsp of salt                                            - Sour cream
- 3/4 cup bread crumbs                                                                                   - Cilantro
- 3 eggs

Chop up your onion and bell peppers (to give mine more flavor I soaked them over night with minced garlic and balsamic vinegar). Add all of the meatball ingredients into a large bowel, mix, and form your meatballs into whatever size you please; mine were probably about 2 inches in diameter. Caution: the best mixing and forming is done with your hands, but they can get REALLY COLD while doing this. Bake @ 350F for 30-45 minutes.

Pick your favorite pasta sauce... in my case, my favorite = the cheapest one I could find. Use a crock pot or large normal pot to mix all the sauce ingredients in because the meatballs will join it after they bake.  Also, the NEHI bottle full of olive oil is not part of the recipe, it just wanted to sneak into the picture.

After the meatballs are done, I usually sacrifice one to ensure they are cooked all the way through. Then drop the rest of them off at the sauce swimming pool.

An example of the size of a few cooked meatballs.

Toast your hoagie, load up three meatballs, add some cheese/sour cream/cilantro, and get ready to enjoy a delicious sandwich!

Bikes, Cars, and Swordplay at Hermann Park

I found out that there was going to be a bike show at Hermann Park, so I grabbed my camera and headed out the door. Little did I know that this Sunday afternoon I would also get to see some crazy cars and swordplay, along with all the fall colors and clouds. This has to be the most random array of pictures in one photography outing.

Safety first

I am not sure that I know of two other people I trust enough to ride a bike with...

I thought this lighting was awesome! I took a ton of pictures of this flag... I was mesmerized!

Not so intense

This one wasn't even at the bike show!
